• Counseling Services really helped me during my senior year. I was experiencing some feelings of sadness and frustration. My mindset is now a lot more positive than it was a year ago. Don’t be afraid to go to Counseling Services. We all have problems in our lives, so why not let those burdens go with the help of some caring counselors?

Commemorative ring honoring legendary C-N football coach Ken Sparks available to Eagles fans

Campus News | January 07, 2022

Fans and friends of legendary Carson-Newman football coach, Ken Sparks, have a unique opportunity to show their Eagles spirit and benefit C-N students.

A commemorative “338” ring is available for sale by clicking here. A portion of each sale benefits C-N students through the “Ken Sparks Making a Difference Academic Scholarship.”

Customization options are available to coaches, players, support staff, and donors who participated in the 338 wins that place Sparks fifth on the all-time wins list for college football. There is also an option for fans interested in supporting the scholarship.

Along with prominently displaying “338,” the ring also features the phrase “How’s Your Heart?” – a question the coach often asked those he was around when inquiring about their relationship with the Lord.

“The Ken Sparks Making a Difference Academic Scholarship” is awarded annually to academically qualified students who show evidence of financial need and Christian leadership. More information can be obtained by contacting the University’s Financial Aid Office at 865-471-3247, or emailing: financialaid@cn.edu

“Ken Sparks made a difference day in and day out, on the field and off,” said Danette Seale, acting vice president for Enrollment Management and executive director of Financial Aid. “This a great opportunity to not only show support for our Eagles football program and Coach Sparks’ legacy, but to also support Carson-Newman students pursuing a degree in Christian higher education. This scholarship benefits qualifying students who represent those same Christian Leadership qualities, so they may make a difference too.”

The ring’s release comes simultaneously with the theatrical premier of the award-winning documentary "Sparks – The Ken Sparks Story." The film was directed by alumnus Jeff Joslin, who played for the celebrated coach and mentor. The film is now playing in select theaters. For more information visit: sparksdoc.com
