Special Education (Non-Licensure) is an excellent major for students who are interested in working with differently-abled individuals. Special Education provides an excellent foundation for graduate work in speech & language pathology, occupational therapy, and other similar fields.
Special Education (Non-Licensure) is a program without teacher licensure. Since the program has built-in flexibility, coursework can be hand-tailored to help individuals reach their professional goals.

The Special Education degree program truly widened my view on the education system and the best ways to serve students that are differently-abled. My professors were willing to go above and beyond to make sure that I was prepared to continue and obtain my master’s degree. I am able to have a different viewpoint and see my clients from multiple perspectives due to my Special Education degree.
Students in the non-licensure Special Education program take many of the same courses as students in the licensure programs and have the opportunity to complete practicum experiences in schools and gain firsthand experience working with differently-abled individuals.
