Nathan Keedy

Adjunct Professor of Saxophone

Dr. Nathan Keedy holds a Doctor of Arts in Saxophone Performance and Pedagogy and a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, as well as a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Montana. 

Dr. Keedy has extensive teaching experience, having held teaching positions the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and at Walters State Community College in Sevierville, TN. At the University of Tennessee, he taught saxophone lessons to music majors and minors, directed student saxophone ensembles, coordinated master classes and guest recitals, and performed recruiting and other outreach activities for the School of Music.


Prior to these roles, Dr. Keedy was a saxophone instructor at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, WY, and a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. He also directed band and choir at Evergreen Junior High School in Kalispell, MT. 

 
In addition to his teaching experience, Dr. Keedy is an accomplished researcher and performer. He has published an article titled “Mountain Roads: An Interpretive Analysis of David Maslanka’s Saxophone Quartet” in The Saxophone Symposium. As a freelance classical and jazz musician he has performed recitals throughout the United States, and has also performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Knoxville Wind Symphony, and frequently with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Keedy is an avid proponent of new music, and premiered two pieces for saxophone duet at the World Saxophone Congress in Minneapolis.
