Dr. Mark Gonzales has worked extensively in public education as a public school instructor, counselor, and administrator. He has also served as an instructor and administrator at the University level since 2003. He served as an instructor, counselor, and administrator at two different school districts in Texas. He also served as Policy and Planning Coordinator for the State of Texas Board for Educator Certification and Director of Certification for the University of Texas at Arlington. Before leaving Texas and moving to Tennessee in 2012, he served on the Texas State University-San Marcos faculty in the College of Education for ten years, the largest educator preparation program in Texas. Since moving to Tennessee, he has served as the Instructional Coach and Administrator for a charter school in Nashville and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University. He was also a member of a Vanderbilt University research group awarded the 2015 Alan C. Purves Award for a research article that was “most likely to have an impact on educational practice.” Dr. Gonzales is a tenured associate professor at Carson-Newman University, where he serves in the graduate Educational Leadership programs. He chairs dissertations for students in the doctoral program and teaches leadership courses in the masters and doctoral programs. He holds a Doctorate of Education from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, a Master of Education from Sul Ross State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Angelo State University. His personal interests and hobbies include involvement in the music business, charity work, golfing, walking his dogs, and spending time with his wife, son, and daughter. He lives in Nashville and teaches all his courses in this area for the Carson-Newman University program and online. |
