Carson-Newman University Art Department invites applicants for Adjunct Instructor of Photography. The position is a part-time appointment to begin August 2025. Candidates for the position must have an MFA or equivalent graduate degree in Photography or a related field. Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff who are actively supportive, through a local church, of its aim as a university with a Christian commitment. Candidates for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Photography will teach courses in the Photography Major at all undergraduate levels. The Carson-Newman Photography Major combines analog, film-based and digital photography instruction. An ability to teach analog film-based photography is preferred, along with a broad range of skills teaching beginning through advanced courses in digital photography. Knowledge of Adobe CC applications such as Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as other digital photography applications is essential. We encourage candidates who are deeply committed to a strong arts education in combination with a rigorous liberal arts education in a Christian setting. Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred, but not required. The faculty member in this position also needs to mentor our Art and Photography majors and be able to provide the example of a practicing, professional fine artist or commercial photographer. The terminal degree of an earned MFA in Photography or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred, but not required.
