Adjunct Instructor of Art History

Carson-Newman University Art Department invites applicants for Adjunct Instructor of Art History. The position is a part-time appointment to begin August 2025.

Candidates for the position must have an PhD or equivalent graduate degree in Art History.

Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff who are actively supportive, through a local church, of its aim as a university with a Christian commitment.

Candidates for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Art History will teach required Art History courses in the Art and Photography Major at all undergraduate levels. The Carson-Newman Art and Photography Major requires courses in Art History Survey I (Prehistoric to Gothic) and Art History Survey II (Renaissance to present), as well as Contemporary Art History, including non-Western content. The Art History Survey courses also serve the at-large campus community by fulfilling the Fine Arts requirement in the Liberal Arts Core. These courses contribute to a rigorous liberal arts education in a Christian setting. Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred but not required.

Art History courses can be taught online or on ground. If teaching remotely in the online setting, compliance with Carson-Newman University’s Online Learning policies is essential and required.
