Carson-Newman to hold annual community service blitz, Nov. 4

Blake Gilliland of Knoxville works with his Operation Inasmuch team to help with landscaping at First Baptist Church of Dandridge. The Carson-Newman freshman business major joined over 450 other members of the University’s campus community during last year’s 2016 event.

(Oct. 30, 2017) – Carson-Newman University will hold its annual Operation Inasmuch (OI) service blitz on Saturday, Nov. 4. Now in its 12th year, the event pulls volunteers from across campus to join in service projects throughout the greater community. Throughout its history students, faculty and staff have gathered on a Saturday to serve the counties of Jefferson, Hamblen and Knox through a variety of projects.

The University was the first in the country to implement OI. Founded by Dr. David Crocker, OI has since been adopted by organizations across the country.

The program’s names stems from Matthew 25:40, where Jesus says: “Inasmuch as you serve the least of these, you serve me.”
